Bal Raj Madhok

The book (in three volumes Bound in one) - Kings of Kashmira being a translation of the Sanskrita works -Raatarangini of Kahlana Pandita, son of Champaka Prabhu, the great minister of Kashmira. In these three volumes, we have the history of Kashmira clearly narrating the reign and activities of kings. These volumes contain accounts of many ancient manners and customs. Writing for a courtly audience. Oroginal  sanskrit version was published in 1150 AD.

Jogesh Chunder Dutt

 It provides general information on the geography, history, architecture and archaeology of Kashmir. It is divided into six chapters dealing with political history, architectural styles, monuments in Srinagar and its vicinity, and Harwan excavations. First Published  by India society in 1933.

Ram Chandra Kak

Ram Chandra Kak was the first Kashmiri Pandit prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir under Dogra rule. This book consists of letters and diary entries by his wife Margaret Kak, as well as sections from Kak’s unpublished memoir. The book reveals a behind the scenes view on 1930’s Kashmir from a family and administrative perspective. It unveils a new perspective on what was going on in the minds of leaders from Indian National Congress, Muslim league and maharajas administration that sowed the seeds of the modern conflict between India and Pakistan. Originally published in 2023. 

Siddharth Kak & Lila Kak Bhan

Kshama Kaul

 Baharistan-i-Shahi, a Persian Manuscript history of Kashmir by anonymous author and brought down to A.D. 1614, has served as an important reference work for historians from the 17th century to the present day. The chronicle begins with a legendary account of the creation of Kashmir and a summary treatment of the Hindu period. It is followed by a detailed account of the Shahmiri and Chak Sultans of Kashmir taking the narrative to the year A.D. 1614. Originally Published in 1991.

K.N. Pandit
